Richard is a highly-recognizable global securities lending industry figure. Prior to founding Supply Economics in May, 2007, he had a long management experience with a premier custodian securities lending agency (Northern Trust) complimented with a recent engagement with a start-up broker-dealer (Quadriserv) implementing a new economic model for servicing hedge funds in the securities lending industry.

From 2004 to 2006, he was Managing Director and Head of Institutional Sales for Quadriserv, Inc., a privately-held, New York City headquartered company that provides securities lending services through its NASD-registered broker-dealer, Quadriserv Securities, Inc. Prior to joining Quadriserv, Richard was Senior Vice President at The Northern Trust Company, where he managed Northern's international securities lending business. His activities in securities lending led him to management assignments in Europe and Asia, as well as at the bank's Chicago headquarters. The breadth of his experience in securities lending incorporates institutional client sales and servicing, trading, operations, risk management, counterparty credit evaluation, cash management oversight, and financial administration. Richard joined the Securities Lending group in 1987, hired and mentored by the late Orrin Bargerhuff, an influential leader in the development of the modern securities lending market. Richard began his career with Northern Trust in 1980 in the Controller’s department and held positions in financial reporting and analysis, cost accounting, and financial systems development.

During his 20-year career in securities lending, Richard has been very active in industry development, working with stock exchanges, securities and banking regulators, and government officials in the U.S. and abroad. His industry leadership positions include Chairman of the RMA Committee on Securities Lending (United States, 2000-2002), inaugural Chairman of the Pan Asia Securities Lending Association (Hong Kong, 1995-1996), and General Committeeman of the International Securities Lending Association (London, 1993-1994).

He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois and earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He is Series 7, 24, 55, and 63 registered. He resides in suburban Chicago, Illinois.
